The Bosch CDR 387 Adapter is a specialized adapter used with the Bosch CDR Tool and designated CDR cables to retrieve Event Data Recorder (EDR) crash data from select supported vehicles and modules.

The CDR 387 Adapter provides the specific interface required for certain Bosch CDR applications and should only be used when specified by Bosch for the vehicle being imaged.

The CDR 387 Adapter is used in applications where additional circuitry is required between the Bosch CDR interface and the vehicle or EDR module. It provides the proper electrical interface needed to establish communication and safely perform the EDR imaging process on designated vehicle applications.

The CDR 387 Adapter is not a universal adapter and should only be used when specified by Bosch for the vehicle and retrieval method being performed.

Always refer to the current Bosch CDR Software to determine whether the 387 Adapter is required for the specific year, make, and model being imaged and to confirm the proper cables, VCI, and connection procedure.

Notes: Use only the Bosch power supply when powering this adapter.

Connecting the ACM Adapter

The ACM adapter is simple to use. Follow the instructions below to connect the ACM Adapter to the CDR Interface Module.  Refer to the Collecting Data section of the Bosch CDR help file for more information on connecting the CDR Interface Module and collecting data directly from the ACM. 

1. Plug the end of the ACM Adapter that is marked with the part number into the 15 pin Vehicle connector of CDR Interface Module. Secure the adapter to the CDR Interface Module by tightening the black thumb screws.

2. Plug the 15 pin connector of the direct-to-module CDR cable into the other end of the ACM adapter and secure the cable to the adapter using the thumbscrews on the CDR cable.

3. Plug the other end of the CDR cable into the ACM you wish to retrieve data from.

4. Apply power to the ACM Adapter using the CDR power supply provided in the CDR kit. Using another source of power may cause damage to the ACM Adapter.

5. The green light on the CDR Interface Module will illuminate when power is supplied to the ACM Power Adapter.  This indicates power is correctly applied to the adapter and CDR Interface Module.  Note that the adapter's light will not be illuminated at this time.

6. Refer to Collecting Data section of the help file for further information on connecting the CDR Interface Module to a PC and performing a download.

7. Once you begin imaging EDR data from the ACM, the green light on the ACM Adapter will illuminate automatically and only during the imaging process and then will turn off when completed.
