Will these EDR tool kits support vehicles sold in Canada?
Yes, if the vehicle model was also sold in the USA and meets the build date limitation listed above. The Kia Rondo (a Canada only model) for example, is NOT supported by the Kia EDR tool.
Do I need a software license to use the Hyundai or Kia EDR tools?
Yes, each tool requires a dedicated software license, which is offered in a one-year license term. The first year of software is included with your initial kit or VCI purchase. If you purchase both the Hyundai and Kia EDR kits, you will receive a separate license for each tool.
Is an active (non-expired) license required to use the Hyundai and Kia EDR tool kits?
Yes, a current, dedicated brand software license is REQUIRED to use each EDR tool. If your license is expired, you will NOT be able to use your EDR tool until the license is renewed.
What is the price for a Hyundai or Kia EDR software subscription?
The current price for either software license is $1,031.25 for 15 months.
The Hyundai and Kia VCIs look remarkably similar. May I purchase one VCI tool and a license for each brand?
No. While the Hyundai VCI (blue) and the Kia VCI (red) tools look alike, each requires a dedicated, brand specific software license. The Kia EDR software will NOT operate on a Hyundai VCI. The Hyundai EDR software will NOT operate on a Kia VCI.
I already own a GIT Hyundai and/or Kia EDR tool kit. May I renew my software license through Crash Data Group?
Yes! Crash Data Group can process your software license renewal. To be eligible to renew, you must be within 6 months of your current license expiration date. Contact us for more details.
What is included in the Hyundai and Kia EDR tool kits?
Each kit includes components required to download supported vehicles through the DLC/OBDII port. The components needed for D2M (direct -to-module) downloads of Airbag Control Units ARE NOT included with the EDR kits and must be purchased separately.
For a detailed list of components included in the Hyundai/Kia kits, please review their corresponding product page on our website.
I already own a GIT Hyundai kit and would like to add Kia EDR capability (or visa-versa). Can I purchase just the KIA VCI and software without purchasing an entire Kia kit with case?
Yes! Crash Data Group now offers Hyundai and Kia VCI kits that ONLY include the brand specific VCI and corresponding software subscription.
These VCI kits are an “add-on” to an existing single brand EDR kit and do not include DLC, USB, power supply cables and adapters.
What is the CFCI Module Adapter?
The CFCI Module is an optional adapter required to perform D2M (direct-to-module) ACU downloads for select 2021 and newer Hyundai and Kia vehicles. These newer vehicles use a CAN-FD communication protocol that is not supported either the Hyundai VCI or Kia VCI on their own. The CFCI module connects between the VCI and the corresponding ACU adapter cable, allowing the corresponding VCI to communicate with CAN-FD airbag module.
